Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette, who is a native of Canada was born on the 1st of June 1974, in Ottawa. Alanis' Greek name is an feminine form of her father's last name, Alan. Her mother's name's Georgia and she has two brothers, Chad and Wade (Alanis"Twin"). She began playing the guitar and piano when she was 21 years old. Alanis released a hit single from 1986 named Fate Stay with Me (b side: Find The Right Man). In Canada, Alanis recorded two dance-pop albums, Alanis (in 1991) and now Is The Time in 1992. She was 18 when she relocated to Toronto where she worked with numerous singers and musicians, but they didn't seem to work. In 1994, she found the right partner: music producer and songwriter Glen Ballard, who had already worked with many musicians, such as Aretha Franklin Michael Jackson and Barbra Streisand. After that, she relocated to LA when she was 19 years old. On June 13th 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was made available through Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis found a way of writing songs that was completely personal to her and based on her own life experiences. JLP has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide which makes it the top-selling female-oriented album ever. Also, it is the third most popular album in history.
